if we as teachers think of ourselves as somehow more important than our students, we have missed the pearl concealed within the shell of our relationship with them.
the student and the teacher are as perfectly equal as halves of an oyster shell. it is within the safe encapsulation of the relationship that grains of sand in the form of adversity and difficulty provide the stimulation for creating pearls of wisdom and awareness for both to experience.
